A short span of a decade spent with him,
An ideal person he became for me.
I cherished the moments wrestling with him,
Still feel the roughness of his subtle beard on my cheek,
His teasing me to be girlish made me angry,
But made me confront my fears, making me dare.

His passion for music and love for nature
Instilled the same obsession within me,
Though young they remain in my memory still
And a smile of remembrance rests on my face.
I listen as the humble paper-man and hawker
Tell me many more stories about him:

That all night outing throughout the town,
From the game parlours to the ice parlours,
Ending with the steaming Idlis just before dawn;
His treat of best movies, selected by him,
Made me laugh with the humour of "Crazy Boys",
Delighted me with thrills of "Ben-Hur", and
Amused me with joy of "That's Entertainment".

I long for some more time with him.
